UNUSUAL VESSELS

Thinking out of the flower-box. These containers found a new purpose in the flowers they house.

FORTNUM TINS

These are a ‘collection’ (I use this term lightly as this was really more of things we finished) of tins that I decided to reuse, and when one of the arrangements someone else had made in my home started to wilt in places, I decided to salvage whatever was still fresh. After plucking what I could from the original arrangement, I decided to match the flowers and succulents colour and tones to the tins I was going to hold them in. The tins are not made to house liquid so the water did leak in places. I placed them in little plates to hold the water in as much as I could, but next time, a little freezer quality ziplock and rubber band might do the trick.

RECYCLED COCA-COLA CAN

I don’t know anyone who drinks soda with the same voracity as my husband does. The carnations are a great match. Bunched together, they look like a peony. I thought it might be fun for him to see the can of his favourite drink being used for something else. If you’re hosting a casual dinner party, these might make great alternate vessels for florals.

SALT AND PEPPER SHAKERS

From time to time, I have a browse at tulipieres online constantly looking for the perfect one- like a granny. Truth be told, I have always wanted to design my own tulipiere- in a modern shape/ spin on this antique style.

For now, these salt and pepper shakers will have to do. I trimmed the stems of these dendrobiums and slotted them onto the holes. These would make great place card holders too. Just write names on cardboard and let it lean on.
