FOREWOMAN

In construction, a foreman is the worker in charge of a construction crew. Because construction is a team sport, I often think of myself as a forewoman, a female foreman. To be in charge is the ultimate form of empowerment. This website is a collection of at-home projects that will hopefully provide ideas for decorating spaces, whether refurbishing a room or laying a table. While some projects are suitable for Do-It-Yourself attempts, the site also offers ideas that require us to Do-It-With-Help.

A LITTLE TASTE

Repurposed

Daybed How-To

A sustainable table with decor that can be reused time and again. Something about this dried arrangement feels crisp and fresh despite being essentially dehydrated.

Tablescapes

Green and Pink Ginori

Beautiful Richard Ginori tableware takes centre stage, while a local Inabel blanket from Mana Manila is repurposed as a table cloth. The juxtaposition between these handcrafted Italian products with traditionally Philippine made pieces is absolutely fantastic.

Living Spaces

Neutral Powder Room

When we think of neutral tones, we don’t usually associate this with maximalist design. In this article, we explore how beige can pair well with multiple accents and accessories. In fact, I think it often provides the best background (or excuse) to pull out all the stops and display all your accessories.

One of my favourite colour combinations are purples, sage green and greys- colours often seen in works by JMW Turner as well as French Impressionists. Often, I look to paintings as a source of inspiration when choosing colour combinations. Identifying the emotion works of art evoke within us, and using that as a starting point to pair the colours with the scheme of a space- that is if we would like for it to echo similar feelings as viewing the work, when we are in the room.

Homework

COFFEE LAMPSHADE

I wanted to update the look of these Ikea lampshades using non-toxic materials that were readily available at home. Coffee is a fantastic natural dye that is affordable, not-toxic and incredibly easy to use. It smells wonderful too!

BESPOKE TV FRAME

A TV frame is a great option if you want something to help hide loose cables and wires. It is visually lighter. quicker to finish and comparatively affordable to entertainment cabinets.
